AIDC, GridCars and Lebone Renewables take charge of the future

AIDC, GridCars and Lebone Renewables take charge of the future Automotive Industry Development Centre (AIDC), GridCars and Lebone Renewables signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Thursday, 13 October 2022 at AIDC offices in Rosslyn. With similar interests in Electric Vehicles (EV), the parties signed the agreement with a mandate and wish to co-operate in areas of mutual interests. Signed by AIDC’s Acting Senior Manager for Business Development, Mr. Asanda Mzinyati, GridCars’ Managing Director, Mr. Winstone Jordaan, and Lebone Renewables’ Prof. Phinda Madi, the MOA will provide a framework of cooperation and facilitate collaboration between the parties, on a non-exclusive basis. Areas of collaboration include roll out of EV charging infrastructure, skills development initiatives linked to charging infrastructure and supply and support of EV charge station hardware. Mzinyati said there has always been synergy between AIDC and GridCars. “One thing that makes people reluctant to invest in electric vehicles is the unavailability of infrastructure. Our partnership with GridCars and Lebone Renewables will allow us to solve the problem. We are excited about the relationship formed and we look forward to working together”. Echoing Mzinyati’s words, Jordaan said that the aim is to make the EV infrastructure accessible. “The partnership will focus on the roll out of EV infrastructure, the diversification of the EV value chain and skills development initiatives related to EV infrastructure and other areas of interest we can identify in future. It is important to note that the EV market is growing rapidly, and it is predicted to grow even further, which makes it important for us to roll out EV infrastructure as soon as we can”. Lebone Renewables’ Prof Phinda Madi thanked the AIDC for creating a platform for the parties to meet and being the catalyst for the agreement. “There has always been keenness to work together. When Lebone Renewables started out, it was out of frustration caused by the reoccurring power cuts in Soweto. So as a problem-solving means, we looked into renewable energy, hence solar energy.” Present at the signing ceremony were delegates from AIDC, GridCars and Lebone Renewables who were taken on a tour at the Automotive Supplier Park and test drives of EV vehicles brought in by GridCars.

April 7 is World Health Day.

The unparalleled value of good health is celebrated on this day.. Spearheaded by the World Health Organization (WHO), physical, mental, and emotional well-being is promoted and celebrated all over the world on this day. This day is all about creating awareness for the health issues of the needy and the less fortunate in poor regions around the world, as well as reminding us to be grateful for our health and to better take care of ourselves.

Mental health is often most neglected, owing to our stressful lifestyles. So mediation and therapy are greatly encouraged. Of course, you are what you eat, so the meals of the day and restaurant promotions are all about maintaining a balanced diet. The Wellness Team urges you, on this World Health Day, to reflect on your own health.

Welcome to 2022 at the AIDC

Welcome to 2022!

We trust that you had a restful and happy holiday season.

Almost two years have passed now and there is no sight of the Covid-19 pandemic coming to an end.  However, we have hope that we can live with it and eventually conquer it.  There is evidence to show that the vaccines play a major role in allying coronavirus symptoms, reducing the number of patients requiring hospitalisation and death due to the illness.

With the view of the Group Management directive that all senior managers must return to the office fully while the rest of the staff continue to work on a 75%   rotational basis; we encourage all eligible staff members to get vaccinated.  This is for the good of us all.

We would love to see your faces.  We would love to see that kind of interactions that can only be achieved by   real human contact.  In this way we will be able to further reach our targets as per the Annual Performance Plan and in turn continue to contribute to the Gauteng economy.

We have reached the final quarter for the 2021/2022 Financial Year while having achieved only 55% of our targets.  There is still an opportunity to achieve 100% of our targets.  All of us will have to make that final push to get to the finish line.  We have done it before, and we can do it again.

As AIDC management we value and appreciate the contribution and efforts by all staff members to the success of the company.

The Automotive Industry Development Centre (AIDC) will continue to follow all protocols to stop the spread of the coronavirus including, wearing of masks, sanitising, and keeping a safe social distance.

We trust that by taking these measures we will soon return to work and life as we know it.

Here’s to happy, healthy, and productive year.

Warm Regards

AIDC Management
